Roy Ellis

Roy Ellis brillierte schon als zehnjähriger Solosänger im Jugendgospelchor der Baptistenkirche in Kingston-Jamaika. Aus der Schule in Jamaika verbindet ihn eine tiefe Freundschaft mit Jimmy Cliff , auch Bob Marley gehörte zu seinen Freunden. Später in den 60er Jahren in England machte er sich mit seiner Riesenstimme einen internationalen Namen in der Gospel-, Blues und Soulszene.
 
  • Roy Ellis war auch der Lead Sänger von einer der bekanntesten British-Ska, Reggae, Gospel, Blues, Soul, Funk Bands: The Pyramids/Symarip.
  • In den 60er Jahren war er einer der Pioniere der Funk- und Reggaemusik in England.
  • 1966 wurde er vom „Godfather of Ska“ Laurel Aitken entdeckt, der 2 Lieder – Jesse James rides again und because I love you – für ihn geschrieben hat und auch produzierte.
  • 1968 sang er sich in die englische und deutsche Hitparade mit: Train tour to Rainbow-City / All change on the bakerloo line / Mexikan Moonlight / Moonstamp
  • 1970 wurde der Dokumentarfilm “REGGAE“ im Wembley-Stadion gedreht. Roy Ellis interpretierte die Gospelsongs im Reggaestil.
  • 1971 sang Roy Ellis seine Blues-Eigenkompositionen See you later und To father im Film „WARM DECEMBER“. Der Hauptdarsteller war der grossartige Filmschauspieler Sidney Poitier.
  • In ganz Europa ist Roy Ellis ein gefeierter Sänger. Roy Ellis ist bekannt als einer der besten Imitatoren von James Brown und Barry White.
  • 1973 entdeckte die Schweiz Roy Ellis als einer der ersten Ska, Reggae, Gospel- & Soulsänger.
  • Seit 1980 wohnt er in der Schweiz und hat in der Zwischenzeit sogar die Schweizer Staatsbürgerschaft angenommen.

The Magnetics

THE MAGNETICS hail from the Milan area, formed in 2017 and led by front man Olly Riva (Shandon and The Soulrockets).
Their music draws inspiration from original ska, rocksteady early reggae and vintage soul
 
2017
Their first album “Jamaican Ska” was released in 2017 on vinyl+CD with Get Up / SELF, and was chosen as ‚Record of the year‘ by many ska webzines ans sua radios all around the world.
 
2018
Their second album “Coffee & Sugar” was released in 2018 on vinyl+CD with the legendary SkaLabel Grover Records.
December 2018 they release also a single on vinyl with Mr.Tony Dallara in person, one of the greatest voice in Italian history. The song is “Come prima“ from 1957,
 
2019
In 2019 the line up is changed with 3 new musicians, Mr. William Nicastro on bass, Mr. Gange on keyboards and Mr. Marcello Aloe on Saxophone and percussions.
The band has toured continuously, more then 350 shows in 5years, in Italy and in Europe, including …great festivals in Europe and the amazing SKAWARS festival in Mexico.
In November and December 2019 they backing in Italy and Germany one of the legend of Trojans records, Miss Susan Cadogan from Kingston Jamaica.
 
2020
From the first lockdown in collaboration with Black Dingo records, they start put on line a new single every 15 days. It’s a new music project called “Cocktails & Farytales” every song have a Cocktail name.
During Christmas time they also released “Christmas Present” from Solomon Burke.
 
2021
They released two new videos “Love of my life” from Queen and “Las Tijeras” from The Inspector (Mexico’s best known ska band). They also released three digital singles “l can’t please you” from Jimmy Robins, “Where were you on our wedding day” from LIoyd Price and a brand new original Christmas song called “Christmas Tale”
 
2022
From march 2022 they released new collaborations with Susan Cadogan: two digital singles “Unforgettable” and “My oh my” and in May a new digital LIVE album called “Live in Italy”.
June 2022 will finally see the physical release of their third ful length album COCKTAILS & FARYTALES in collaboration with Grover Records from Germany and Jump Up Records from USA
